N + to V.P.

A fresh request for the release on bail of seven United

Front for Democracy againstDictatorship (UDD) leaders will

be filed with the Criminal Court on Monday, Feb 7, Lawyers

Council president Narinpong Jinapak said on Thursday.
The UDD lawyer said he would go to Bangkok Remand

Prison on Monday morning so the seven could sign the bail

request, which would then be filed with the court in the

afternoon.

With consent from UDD chair Thida Thavornseth, 3

million baht would be offered as collateral for the release of

each of the seven - Natthawut Saikua, Weng Tojirakarn,

Korkaew Pikulthong, Nisit Sinthuprai, Kwanchai Sarakham,

Wiphuthalaeng Pattanaphumthai and Yossawaris Chuklom,

alias Jeng Dokchik - who are charged with terrorism in

connection with the April-May violence last year.

Mr Narinpong said the bail request would cite a proposal by

the Truth for Reconciliation Commission, chaired by former

attoney general Kanit Na Nakorn, that the court allow bail for

the suspects.

The release on bail of Chaiwat Sinsuwong and

Somboon Thongburan, charged with involvement in the

People's Alliance for Democracy's (PAD) blockade of

Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang airports in 2008, would not

be cited in the request since the cases were separate, he

said. Previous bail requests for the UDD leaders were

rejected by the court.
